On May 4th, 2012 in hotel Aleksandar Palace in Skopje, was held the 13th Annual Conference of the Macedonian Stock Exchange. This year’s conference was a place where numerous representatives from the financial sector and securities industry in the Republic of Macedonia, listed companies, government and regulatory institutions, as well as experts in securities gathered to discuss the current situations and to analyze the capital market trends in the country and abroad.
At the opening ceremony the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of RM, M.A. Zoran Stavreski, the Governor of the National Bank of RM, M.A. Dimitar Bogov and the CEO of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, Mr. Ivan Steriev delivered introductory speeches.

Afterwards, through organized debates and panel discussions, the participants had the opportunity to hear the views of prominent domestic and foreign experts on the global and regional macro economical situation and its reflection on the capital markets; the future of the business models of stock exchanges and on the importance and the role of the post-trading infrastructure in the national and cross-border trade. The attendants had the possibility to follow the speeches and presentations of the directors of the Istanbul, Ljubljana and Bulgarian Stock Exchange, the CEO of the Central Depository & Clearing Company Inc. in Croatia, the executive director of Principal Strategic Investments in the investment bank Morgan Stanley and the Principal consultant for exchange business development at NYSE Euronext.

During the XIII Annual Conference of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, the Chairmain and CEO of the Istanbul Stock Exchange (the İstanbul Menkul Kıymetler Borsası) Mr. Ibrahim Turhan and CEO of the Macedonian Stock Exchange Mr. Ivan Steriev signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The main purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is the deepening and enhancement of the already established cooperation between the two stock exchanges.

By signing this Memorandum, both exchanges expressed their willingness to collaborate in several areas: the transfer of know-how referring, inter alia, trading in securities, order routing, listing of securities, settlement and clearing, dissemination of information as well as the surveillance of transactions; the exchange of information and expertise regarding their activities, markets and operations; the organization of joint events with the common objective of improving the understanding and knowledge of capital markets and exchanges in both countries and the establishment of a channel of communication in respect of the ongoing and systematic flow of information between the two exchanges.
The Macedonian Stock Exchange for the fifth time awarded the most transparent listed company with the “Crystal bell” award, as well as the best research paper in the area of capital market in Macedonia.
The “Crystal bell” award was given to Alkaloid AD Skopje and Mr. Milan Eliskovski received the award for best research paper in the area of capital market in Macedonia.
