Wednesday, December 31, 2003
With reference to the information for sale of a package of shares of Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje to the Bank Austria, Macedonian Stock Exchange has received a denial from Komercijalna Banka. In the denial, Komercijalna Banka notes that it hasn’t had any talks for sale of it’s shares to the Bank Austria, neither the Macedonian government could negotiate for sale of 49% of the bank’s shares because the state and public sector together own less than 14% of the bank’s shares. Thus, Komercijalna Banka says that the information that appeared in the newspaper Dnevnik are just a specilation. Komercijalna Banka also informs that four years ago the Board of Directors has adopted a long-term strategy with a possibility for sale of the control package of the Bank’s shares only if an investor is one of the top 20 Europian banks.
