For the second year in a row, the Macedonian Stock Exchange joins the global initiative "Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy" of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), in support of the global campaign "World Investor Week " organized by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

This year, the "World Investor Week" lasts from October 3rd to October 9th, and a record 79 stock exchanges, on six continents, have joined it. Stock exchanges are holding bell-ringing ceremonies this week, to raise awareness of the need for financial education, with an emphasis on investing in securities.

On this occasion, the dean of the Faculty of Economics - Skopje at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, prof. Dr. Predrag Trpeski symbolically rang the Stock Exchange bell in the premises of the Macedonian Stock Exchange. On this occasion, dean Trpeski stated: "Financial literacy today is high on the agendas of all relevant economic policymakers. The Faculty of Economics in Skopje, since its existence, and especially in the last decade, individually or in partnership with national financial institutions, continuously contributes to raising all levels of literacy. Additional confirmation of those commitments is the signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Macedonian Stock Exchange, which covers several fields of activity, and a special emphasis is placed on organizing different trainings that will cover the areas of the capital market, personal finance, financial accounting, the functioning of the Macedonian Stock Exchange and similar topics."

At the same time, within the framework of the initiative "Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy" and the celebration of "World Investor Week", the Chief Executive Officer of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, Ivan Shteriev, gave a lecture to the students of the Faculty of Economics in Skopje. The Macedonian securities market and the role of all market institutions and participants were presented to the students. "One of the most striking changes everywhere in the stock markets recently is the emphasized generational change in the structure of investors - they are younger, bolder, and more active without using financial intermediaries. That is why their financial education and in-depth knowledge of the problem now is even more important than before, and all social actors should make every effort to improve financial literacy" said director Shteriev.
